JOB PURPOSE: To uphold and ensure the Safety Management System of Sanjel (USA) Inc. The HSE Advisor will be responsible for advising and facilitating compliance with federal regulations at the District and Field levels. The HSE Advisor will ensure that appropriate safety data/information is collected, maintained, and processed, and that trends are identified, reported and followed up on. Conducting Field and Facility safety audits are a critical component to this position, as is conducting district specific New Hire Safety Orientations.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Maintain Safety Training files and records for District locations
o Maintain Safety Audit files (facility, field, radiation, etc)
o Collect and process Radioactive surveys and paperwork
o Update and maintain District Emergency Response Plans
o Collect Hazard IDs and Job Safety Analyses. Identify and document trends, inform appropriate parties and follow up to ensure noncompliant issues have been addressed
o Conduct spot audits of driver log books
o Collect and process all Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) logs monthly
o Maintain MSDS documentation
o Collect all Incident Report documentation and forward to Safety Manager. Assist Supervisors in completing documentation as needed.
o Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with customer safety representatives
o Maintain necessary inventory of PPE appropriate for current operations
o Be a positive example of high safety standards both in action and attitude
Facility and Field Audits
o Conduct facility audits monthly and follow up on deficiencies
o Conduct, observe and participate in a minimum of 5 field audits per month
Advise Management of findings and propose solutions for improvement
o Verify radioactive sources have correct equipment, serial number, and tags quarterly
o Participate in OSHA, DOT, etc. audits as needed
o Enforce and uphold Sanjel safety standards, policies, and procedures
Advise Management on performance deficiencies of field personnel or field practices and areas for improvement
Training
o Conduct District specific New Hire Safety Orientations and assist with New Hire Orientations
o Issue and instruct new hires on proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
o Coordinate safety training (internal or external)- H2S, CPR, Respiratory Training, Fit Testing, etc
o Support and coordinate Respiratory Protection Program
o Counsel and advise employees and managers on unsafe behaviors and incidents
Participates in the collection of information, determination of cause, and documentation of post incident investigations
Participates in weekly safety meetings
Participates in the Sanjel Drug and Alcohol Program to include scheduling and coordination of random and post-accident employee drug testing
POSITION REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent
(STS) Safety Trained Supervisor (CESB) or equivalent; or ability to obtain certification within 1 year
3 years of experience in a Safety role
Basic office computer skills
Strong problem solving abilities
Strong communication skills- verbal and written
Highly organized and strong time management abilities
