Job Description:	MARTA IS SEEKING A: SYSTEM SAFETY ENGINEER SALARY RANGE: $63, 974 – $95, 962 BASIC FUNCTIONS: Applies system safety principles to all aspects of the Authority’s operations in the development, implementation and management of the Authority’s System Safety Program. Has responsibility for the development and implementation of Authority-wide system safety policies, plans and procedures. Performs all tasks associated with MARTA’s safety and security certification to include establishing safety and security design criteria and verification of design and specification conformance. Implements hazard management program through hazard identification, risk assessment, hazard mitigation, and hazard tracking/ reporting. Provides detailed reports to MARTA management staff and for regulating agency review concerning system safety engineering requirement including hazard identification. Works closely with other MARTA engineers to increase safety, quality and efficiency. Serves as lead System Safety Engineer on projects and may review the work of engineering consultants and contractors. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field is required. Eight years of progressively responsible experience in conducting hazard analysis (safety) and threat vulnerability risk assessment (security) are required. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Georgia or the ability to obtain Georgia registration via reciprocity within six months is required. Must have detailed understanding of the principles of system safety engineering with ability to perform complex engineering and statistical analysis associated with system safety engineering. Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications including the MS Office Suite SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Georgia or the ability to obtain Georgia registration via reciprocity within six months is required. Must complete MARTA's Wayside Access training. Must have a valid Georgia driver's license.
