NATURE OF WORK:
Under direction, develops, maintains coordinates, and monitors Jensen and its wholly owned subsidiaries Safety, Emergency Preparedness and Hazard Communication Programs. Responsible for coordinating and implementing safety and emergency preparedness policies and procedures, including: conducting and coordinating investigations; advising and training on safety, disseminating safety information, analyzing information and preparing reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Coordinates and oversees Jensen Safety and Injury and Illness Prevention Program including conducting periodic reviews and developing recommendations for revisions.
Investigates work-related accidents and injuries, determines the cause of accidents, and recommends corrective action to prevent recurrence and reduce accidents and claims.
Provides post accident training to those employees involved in accidents, focusing on the conditions and actions causing the accident as determined by the accident investigation.
Conducts safety inspections of job sites, Jensen yards, vehicles, and equipment, to identify hazards and recommends corrective action and/or safety equipment.
Coordinates or conducts hazard surveys, including chemical exposures, noise exposures, confined spaces, respiratory exposures, and equipment exposures.
Coordinates annual safety fair and conducts employee safety training.
Conducts new hire safety training.
Coordinates and distributes weekly safety training to employees in safety policies, hazard identification and other safe work practices.
Review safety and training meetings and develops recommendations for new training and safety topics.
Maintains and updates incident logs, compiles statistics, calculates injury and illness incidence rates, and prepares monthly, quarterly and yearly safety reports including those required by OSHA.
Administers safety incentive programs and purchases safety equipment / PPE.
Maintains safety records and documentation including training, inspections, injury, and investigative reports.
Develops and implements new safety programs in response to regulatory changes and case law.
Responds to request for Company safety information and Cal/OSHA inspections and citations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
.
Bachelor's degree, plus 3-5 years of safety experience, and OSHA certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have thorough knowledge of OSHA standards including; compliance, laws, regulations, record keeping, loss control techniques, training, and establishing policies.
Experience developing, coordinating, and conducting training, safety inspections and investigations.
Ability to prepare clear and concise written procedures, reports, and documentation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other applicable software.
Moderate Excel & Access Skills Preferred;
Bilingual in English/ Spanish Preferred.
Must have a clean DMV record.
Operational Safety experience with a construction background preferred.
This position requires travel between the Greater Bay Area and Northern California jobsites.
