Job Description:	Description Environmental Health and Safety Associate The Environmental Health and Safety Associate is responsible for implementing, monitoring and overseeing Genzyme's Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety programs for laboratory and office facilities in San Antonio, Texas. Key responsibilities include overseeing the Genzyme 5 Star Safety Program, Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001), Genzyme Environmental Management System (ISO14001), Workers Compensation and all applicable training, documentation, and communication associated with these programs. This individual performs technical tasks to ensure compliance with EHS regulations, permits, and conformance with corporate standards, and prepares environmental permit applications and reports. Position ensures the communication of EHS matters and systematically identifies, eliminates and controls hazards and environmental risks with comprehensive programs though risk assessments, environmental assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, fire protection evaluations, ergonomic evaluations and EHS inspection and auditing. The Associate manages the administration of the Workers Compensation program, investigates incidents/accidents and reports findings to management with recommendation for corrective measures and monitors and reports key environmental performance indicators. Excellent problem solving and communication skills are necessary for this position. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or related science discipline. One to five years experience in EHS compliance for laboratory and/or manufacturing operations. Two years experience in risk assessments, bio-safety, industrial hygiene and potent compound handling.
